Benefits of Yoga and Mindfulness

More and more studies show evidence that mindfulness interventions with school aged children can improve the mental, emotional, social, and physical health and well being of young people who take part in it. The 3 components of a Yoga session encourages calm and focus in all ages, while building strength and flexibility in both body and mind.

The Physical Practice:
Unlike any other sports, yoga is the only physical activity that encourages awareness of the workings of  our body and mind, while having fun.

Meditation
The meditation sessions (adapted to the age group) encourage children to re centre  and observe how they feel. It enhances focus, improves learning and mind-body awareness, and is an amazing tool for managing difficult emotions.

Pranayama (breathing exercises)
The simple and age appropriate breathing techniques taught help the children instantly unplug from the previous thought or behaviour, fostering immediate calmness and focus. 

In a nutshell...

Physical
Improves posture, creates strength and flexibility safely, encourages creativity and partnership, calms the nervous system.

Mental
Yoga and mindfulness create peace of mind, calm, enhanced focus, and a general feeling of wellbeing. Yoga elevates the mood and generates a positive state of mind.

Emotional
Yoga helps reduce anxiety and provides pragmatic tools and strategies to manage difficult emotions such as anger, jealousy, etc... It promotes greater acceptance of self and others, therefore enhancing self confidence.

In short, yoga helps children to tap into the Better version of themselves.
